Manitoba | While playing with my Trimble/EZsteer system out in the field, I found a page that shows what I assume is your feet above sea level. The numbers seem right for our area. You cant watch it while your auto steering so I steered (what a drag to have to actually steer) for one pass across the field and watched the elevation change. It made total sense going up about 2 feet in a half mile, going from an area I know is low to the other end of the field. We're in the Red river valley in Manitoba which is quite flat.
I've always wondered if you had a way of recording this data every time you go over a field whether you could make relatively good topagraphic maps. The actual feet above sea level doesnt matter, its the relative difference from one point to another. I realize that what ever GPS your using the vertical axis has twice the error as the horizontal, but if a number of these maps could be overlaid with each other wouldnt the accuaracy improve? | |
