Subject: Wet corn shrinkage

Martinsville, Ohio

Had to harvest 2000 bu corn to give a landlord access early to another field.  Bins were quite not ready and did not want to contaminate them with this GMO corn and it was wet enough I was a little scared of air drying it.

It was 25% M and the local mill offered 3.05 minus 30 cents which I thought was fair.  Then my main merchandiser called back and said bring it here which we did.

$3.74 contract and they sent me a check for $4100.  I called u p and ask what F???  Oh, we made an accounting mistake, you should have not been charged the drying charge, only the shrinkage charge.

I said, the drying charge is half the shrinkage charge, I will swap you for that!  No answer, that is not company policy.

What is fair and what is going on?

What would be a fair price for this wet corn?

I didn't want to send it and knew what would happen but I did, it did, and worse.

No wonder the American farmer is so sceptical.
