Subject: RE: GS2-Garmin

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
My experience with the Garmins (limited) is that many models apparently switch over to the new WAAS satellites without any intervention.

My model 18 PC did this without any change in settings or firmware. When connected to my Insight, the 18 PC showed WAAS differential correction. It must have switched to either 135 or 138 as the former 122 was out of service at that time.

On the Insight, one can observe the Raw NEMA strings coming in. With certain GPS receivers (not my Garmin), it is possible to actually see the WAAS frequency being used. It is towards the end of the GGA string. This can be handy with the blind (no display) type of receivers if there is some doubt about which WAAS satellite is being used at any given time.
