One of the disadvantages of planting soybeans early is the prolonged effect of BLB. They are probably here to stay unless you or Mother Nature disrupts their cycle.

A timely application of insecticide on the first emerged beetles is probably your best season long control if you have them. If you are downwind or close enough to the neighbor and he doesn't control them you are both probably going to have economic effects whether you think you do or not.

Second or third generation BLB and bean pod mottle virus are potentially your worst outcome.
