You might check with Nathan Lowder, NRCS DC/Farmer - 704-982-5114x3, in North Carolina. He and a few other farmers were planting into 7 and 8 way mixes that included rolled down headed out rye and vetch (last I knew). Could be one of them ran into the same problem and they all had green planters in their video. I agree speed and a row mounted coulter/not enough row unit down pressure for conditions may be the problem(s). Press wheels set to stiff may be contributing as well.
