I was curious about Waygu beef as well and did a little research. Proper cooking is critical. You must like your steak RARE. Cooking involves putting a crust on the outside and that is it. If you screw it up you just wrecked a $50 steak. I understand Waygu beef is raised here in the States and Australia and shipped to Kobe Japan (live I think) then shipped back to retail markets. Waygu growers are under very strict contracts and will not sell individual animals for any money or even discuss it. I know your father likes marbled beef but Kobe beef might be a little too much for him. I personnally have never had bad beef ever in South Dakota whether in a nice resturant or some roadside gas station burger
