Subject: Re: Soybean silage

nw NC
To get 10 tons/acre dry matter would require a little over 57,000lbs of material at 65% moisture. That is 28- 1/2 tons/acre of green weight. It takes really tall corn to make that kind of yield at 65% moisture. If silage moisture was 70% it would require 66,666 lbs./acre (33-1/3 tons) green weight. Think that is possible with tall soybeans?
