WE don't hoe much corn anymore due to lack of time but I always thought it did more good than harm to hoe small corn. Breaking up any crust helps get oxygen into the ground & uou will eliminate a lot of small grass. If nothing else it sure seems to make the corn standout.

I also think cultivating corn helps it but again that's one job most farmers don't due anymore. I once read where the Unniversity of Illinois did a study that showed cultivating corn 1 time increased yields 7 bps. Same study showed cultivating it twice reduced yields 7bpa. This was back in the late '70s or early '80s
