Subject: RE: Outback or Deere GPS, Which one to buy???

To be transparent from the outset I am an AMS Consultant in Australia. That being said, there are a few questions that you should consider;
1. Do you want hands-free steering?
2. Is the vehicle JD or Other?
If it is JD, you may have the option for an integrated JD steering system. Non JD you can use the ATU (AutoTrac Universal) steering system.
3. Do you want auto steering you can easily move between more than one vehicle?
4. Do you want a system that you can map harvest & planting?
5. How important is back-up support?

If you go with a JD GS2 system you not only get a guidance (self-steer or hands-free) system AND mapping system, but it is fully ISOBUS capable witch means you can control other manufacturers systems such as the Raven ultrasonic boom height controller(CAN type), some Dickey John planter monitors etc. If you have an 8030 tractor you will soon be able to do hands-free end turns.

The Greenstar GS2 system is not what I would describe as a budget entry level system although it can be bought in a basic configuration and upgraded to a premium system without changing any hardware components. Support is the biggest plus for any Greenstar system, there's always a JD dealer nearby and Stellar Support is 24/7.

Ask any prospective supplier to provide you with an on-farm demo in your own vehicle so you can accurately guage if the system is right for you.

Good Luck
