Subject: What tires on an NH3 running gear?

Chebanse, IL.....

If you were (or have) setting up your OWN NH3 tanks/running gears, what would you ideally use for tires?

It seems to me, the most problem I see from the NH3 wagons is tire wear. Most dealers/companies use the 12.5Lx15 Implement tires on the 1450 gal wagons. I believe that somewhere printed on the tire is "Maximum speed 20 mph".....or something close to that. But-everyone pulls them 50 mph down the road. It's been my experience that ribbed tires get unbelievably hot from road use compared to road tread tires, like truck tires.

So-would a 10.00x20 truck type tire/rim be a better (and cheaper?) bet on a gear? Not sure why they use 12.5Lx15 tires anyway. You see more of the new implements coming w/non-implement type tires. Like Kinze & JD planters.

Or-is there some magic to "Rib-type" tires that I'm missing?
