| Element or insulator can break, fall down and make contact w/ case, glow red but not really make it a red hot girlie man machine. You need to open up the element enclosure and make sure everything is on the up and up. Also that nasty lint buil up anywhere from intake to final exhaust can slow down the little hummer. Finally the fan can spin on the shaft and reduce the huff and puff of the old girl. I have used wire butt connectors minus the plastice coating to splice broken elements. It works for awhile but ususally the element is on it's way out. Element life is increased by ensuring that air flow is not restricted.
Finest clothes drier in the world is out in the yard between two poles with feederchain deadman anchors to keep poles from slanting when the coveralls arrive. Very little maintenance required. Always works eventually. Very low energy cost. Al Gore has one I'm sure. | |
