| I've got a question on whether I should cut my hay or not. Let me explain. I produce small squares for local horse folks. I usually wait until the alfalfa is in full bloom when I cut, but the conditions here in southern Ontario has been such that I have a tremendous crop of alfalfa/grass. The grass is tall and already going to seed. The alfalfa is thick and tall but has not started to bud yet. I know that horses shouldn't eat much alfalfa, but it seem to be what my customers want; a half and half mix. Would the protein be too rich if I were to start cutting as soon as we get a good stretch of weather. On another note, getting ready to replant a few acres of corn that got drowned out. Checked some beans yesterday, and there is about 60 acres that are having trouble making it out of the ground. The rotary hoe woudn't touch it. By the sounds of things, I'm not alone. One day at a time I guess. Anyway, thanks in advance for any help on the hay situation.
