Subject: lightbar for combine guidance in down corn

Pocahontas County, IA
Mother Nature decided to send a 90 mph wind across 2/3s of my corn acres. This changed what looked to be one of my best crops ever into the most challenging harvest ever. I'll be doing a lot of guess work as to where the rows are, that is if the first field doesn't drive me crazy! Has anyone successfully used a light bar for guidance in this situation? We have a yield moniter with mapping in the machine. Should I upgrade the GPS unit for a more accurate lightbar? My goal here is to stay closer to being on the row. My past experience in down corn was it's damned easy to be 4 - 6 rows off by the time you get across the field. I'm sure in the places where I was going diagonally I wasn't picking up much corn. Thanks!
