You need to condiser the yield difference between "excellent" and "not AS good" seed spacing. Is being off a little tiny bit really going to make a huge difference in yields? I doubt it.

These people make it sound like a vac planter requires painstaking hours of adjustment and very specific seed sizes to get a good stand....not so much the case. Unless you have really small seeds, you can use the standard discs for everything. If you have super small seeds, like 40#/80k, you'll need small discs. I don't think I have ever used the small corn discs in my planter. The vac level is critical, but as along as you are close, you'll be fine. I pretty much run mine between 8 and 10 for everything and have excellent results.

The vac system is essentially maintainenece free -- other than a few seals every now and then. Really, you won't spend more than about 10 minutes to set up the vac system to plant. Changing plates for beans is quicker than changing the meters.
