Subject: Re: sweep auger motor size?

Leesburg, Ohio
We use a 1.5 hp Baldor motor on all our sweeps, wired for 110v. They are mostly Hutch sweeps, so we leave the bracket on the motor, and just drop it in place on whatever sweep/bin we're in. We use this motor on bins from 21' to 36' diameter, but normally will put a short sweep in first on the 36 footer, let it go around once, and then put the big sweep in...easier on the motor, and not as much grain rolling down to cover up the auger. I have a couple 2hp motors off an old stirring auger...plan to fix up one of them for another sweep motor.
