Subject: RE: Slugs, IN SW MN??

near Orleans, France
insecticide will not kill slug, and worse, can kill the carabs wich are natural predators for slugs; the best product is 5% methaldehyde baits(sample : metarex from de sangosse), 5 to 7 kg /ha ( 4 to 6 pounds per acre) of baits. you need 2 days and nigths without rain after apply baits , it's the time needed to dehydrate the slugs which have eaten baits. other products wich are not metaldehyde are bad for environnement, they kills earthworms and affect predators. De sangosse has a very well made cdrom about slugs in french, i don't know if you can have it in english.
