We did amoniate wheat straw a couple of years. It does give a value to the straw. My cows didn't seem to like the bales too well, but when ground thru a tub grinder and mixed with other hay it worked well. The only problem was with the grinder, ammoniated straw will draw moisture and the damp bales were tough grinding.
Wheat straw has a feed source for cows?
