Subject: self feeding bags of corn silage

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Has anyone had any experience self feeding bagged corn silage by running an electric wire with stops on it up and down each side (in a U) and then one across the open end about half height high?

A neighbor says he has seen others who then cut a couple inches more into the bag every day or so, peel it down and then let the cattle come feed themselves. They move the electric cross wire (on two gate handles) forward between the two wires on the side when they cut the bag. The cross wire lets them feed below it but not get into the bag, or so he says.

Will this work?
