SE Illinois
It is obvious that ruzijobeans has no experience with annual ryegrass in SE Illinois. It is too late to expect ARG seeded today to make enough plant mass to overwinter here. Leave it in the bag for next year. if you have to plant some, try a frost seeding in January on a few acres. I base this on hundreds of acres of ARG planted on my farm, with numerous failures where the probability of failure increases to near 100% by October 20.
