Subject: Re: GPA spraying Round up -- Wive's tale???

When the book that comes with the product says 5 to 15 gallons per acre, is that a wive's tale? Works out a quart (or 41%) to the acre and ten gallons to the acre makes a 1% brew just exactly what is sold for home use. Is that so far out?

Back when Roundup was new and the neighbor was ridding his buggy through the field squirting carefully, I tested his brew on a tree leaf. If this stuff was so good, I dipped half a leaf in it. That tree is still here, though stunted by repeated severe pruning, that little glyphosate had no effects, not even on that leaf. It is necessary to get drops of the stuff on more than a little of the undesired weed. Else we could spray pure 41% and save on hauling the water.

Hard or muddy water truly is the enemy of glyphosate, locking it up with the hardness and dirt ions. That's why we treat the water with AMS FIRST to let the AMS ions tie up the hardness and dirt ions. Then water isn't an enemy of glyphosate, its a friend.

Then as you reduce the volume of water with the glyphosate you have to use tiny nozzles which get tiny drops that resist the call of gravity and can miss the plants that you wanted annointed or you have to drive 37 mph to spread the larger drops over enough area. How well do those options work? How long can TT110001 nozzles stay clean? Or the 100 mesh screens protecting them?
