The way I read it Phil is trying to say that having the auto steer run the hydraulic steering valve is better than the electric motor running the steering wheel. If the original poster has a Cat and we missed where he said that, then by all means use the fly by wire system it already has. On a wheel tractor, I'd say that Phil is right, an electronic steering valve generally needs to be installed to fully use that accuracy.
