Subject: RTK EZ500 with EZ-Steer

Missouri river bottom south of Sioux City, IA
RTK does not have to be used in conjunction with a hydraulic steering valve to utilize RTK accuracy in an auto-guidance setup. A perfect example of that is an RTK EZ500 with EZ-Steer. Last year the neighbor planted his corn with a Trimble RTK Autopilot with FMD on his Cat 55. This year he added a RTK EZ500 with EZ-Steer onto his Case Magnum 7140 to plant his soybeans in the standing corn stocks from the previous year. He imported his AB lines from the FMD on his Cat 55 into the EZ500 on his Case Magnum 7140 and shifted them 3 inches so he would keep the planter row units and tractor tires off the old corn rows. It worked well. The planter did not plug up because it was far enough away from the old corn row. He also could keep his tractor tires from getting damage because they were not running on the old corn rows.

I think you would be surprised in the performance of a correctly calibrated RTK EZ500/EZ-Steer on an older tractor.
