Subject: RE: Mapping w/EZ Guide 500 on JD4720

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
The Deere spray valves use a polarity reversing scheme on those sprayers. That means that a pair of wires leading to the on/off vavle are +/- for ON (open) and -/+ for OFF (close).

The wire to tap onto is the red wire which leads to the "B" pin (center) of the three pole weatherpak connector at the ON/OFF valve for the center spray section.

This wire will be +12V when the valve is open and ground when it is closed. Splice onto this red wire and run a new wire back to the cab.

Attach this new wire to the coil of a normally open relay. Attach the other coil terminal to a good ground. Thus when the center spray valve is ON, the points in the relay will close.

Attach the B & C terminals to the output terminals of the relay.

The total picture is: when the center spray valve is ON, 12 v will be fed back to the relay. This activates the points causing them to close thus completing a circuit between the B&C pins of the Weatherpak connector on the Hammerhead cable.

The EZ-Guide 500 will then log a coverage map. The EZ-Guide 500 must be configured to respond to this external switch through the menu structure. The logging can be overidden by use of the keyboard if desired. Normally you would allow the center boom's status of ON or OFF control the mapping.
