Yes, that is correct. My Coworker is just in the process of making some null modem gender changer extensions with external power. The power out on Pins 4 & 6 is suitable for powering most GPS's.

These cables are used to connect a generic GPS to an Insight, YM2000 or PF3000.

We use these alot in combine situations where a low end GPS is often used. The extra length is usually needed to get inside a combine cab. This cable generally stays with the combine although the other devices may get moved.
