Lapel, In | A neighbor fed his cows corn silage piled next to a fence.Spread stone on the ground first.Put up an electric fence around the other sides and moved the fence on the end towards the pile as the cows cleaned the silage up. He usually built the stack about 6 feet high, packed it tight and covered it with either oats or black plastic. One chopper, two rear discharge forage wagons and a tractor with duals and a rear blade is all he used and some of that was borrowed or hired done. He did this for years until he retired. He fed very little hay. | |
