We had that happen to us one time when we ran out of 2-4d when doing burndown. It took several weeks but they eventually died - second application cleaned up what didn't fully die. Some first rate would help too - can't remember rates though.
Just a half pint of 4# lv does wonders for burn down. It's standard for us in our burndown applications.
