Subject: Re: Glypho Resistance

Extreme = glyph + Pursuit. I've never seen much activity by Pursuit on marestail. Dollar for dollar, you'd get much more out of a low rate of FirstRate than a full rate of Pursuit.

I agree w/ cotman, the marestail in the photo probably won't all die and some will regrow. My point was that glyphosate was having significant activity on some of them to induce the yellowing. A worse scenario would be to have some plants die and adjacent plants be totally healthy (assuming no problems w/ spray coverage) -- that often is true resistance.

Another thing to bear in mind is that some marestail populations are also ALS-resistant, so the imi and SU chemistries aren't a sure bet. In any case, these chemistries are much better on small marestail, not 18" ones.

For future management, I'd re-emphasize the points made in this thread and others -- that it is fast becoming an absolute necessity to kill the marestail w/ 2,4-D ester (or dicamba) in a late spring burndown.
