| Judging from the pic, the marestail are injured (yellowish, distorted growth on top) and therefore aren't resistant, just very tolerant. A subtle point, yes, but it means that they can be killed with a high rate of glyphosate and a good adjuvant load. (And I wouldn't be opposed to adding the FirstRate.) K-State had some research last year where they were going up to 4 quarts of glyphosate and not completely killing some marestail in a more tolerant population -- the marestail in that 4X treatment were quite stunted, however, so not truly resistant at least in the way most herbicide scientists use the word.
Ditto the 2,4-D burndown comments.
