| The impact in cattle is probably favorable. DDG's can replace corn at a lower cost. We don't feed it because we can't feed enough to keep it fresh, but most of the feeders around us are using it and have no complaints. In fact, they sell their grain and buy back DDG's.
Monogastrics like poultry and pork can't use DDG's so are competing with ethanol for whole grains.
Your friends are probably right, the pork industry will find it's new economic threshold and keep on producing. Cattle, probably couldn't care less or have a positive impact.
