Subject: Re: Hard surfacing wire for a mig

McLean County, IL
I used a Mckay wire this winter. I think its called armorwear, google it and you can find it. It's the only wire i could find in .035 and small spools. It is flux cored and can be used in either polarity. My local shop had to order it, but it only took a couple of days to get. I welded up the leading edges of the shanks on our dmi disc ripper, and also used it on the deck plates on my john deere cornhead. Tricky to use, by the time i was done with each job I about had the hang of it, tricky to get dialed in. This was on a miller 251. Hope this helps, oh and keep the shop ventilated, its nasty chit.
