Gilroy 35 Miles Over the Hill From Santa Cruz | ALBC ALERT: Rare San Clemente Goat Herd Needs Home A small herd of rare San Clemente goats has been located in New Mexico. These goats trace back to early efforts to rescue goats off the island in the late 1980s, and therefore represent a unique population. The owners have come to the end of their ability to conserve this herd and an immediate dispersal is needed. The herd contains 5 bucks and 11 does, some with coloration infrequently seen in the breed after removal from the island. It would be beneficial if the herd can remain intact. Please contact Leslie Edmundson at the San Clemente Island Goat Association, 3037 Halfway Road, The Plains, VA 20198, (540) 687-8871, http://www.scigoats.org [email protected] for further details or to see how you might assist in restoring this unique segment to the breed population. |
