Subject: RE: Is there a "Carfax" for used semi's?

As far as I'm concerned, and I've said this before.... when you buy any used truck, it's no different than buying a pig in a bag.
You look them over best you can. Drive them. Get them warm. See what happens. Look at the tires. Listen to the engine. See how it shifts. Look at the frame. It's often not too hard to tell if there's been damage at some point. Look them over well. Buy on the condition it's in, not what it was, or somebody else says it is....

I don't view any paperwork or work receipts as anyhting more than incedental, so long as the paperwork is legal to put it on the road. You could buy a truck that just had 20 gand work done to the engine.... and then drop another 10 on tires, rear ends and a transmission the next day. Ya pays yer money, and ya takes yer chances. That's how trucks are. Period. Money pits. You just hope to do enough with it to keep ahead of the grim reaper. That's it, that's all.
