Danforth, Illinois | Here's the problem. I just got the tractor back together after a total rebuilt. I cant seem to get it started. Have fuel to the injector high pressure pipes at the injector. I have tried setting the timing at 8 and TDC and no luck. What degree do I set the timing on a 4010 diesel with the advance built into the pump. Any help would be great. TIA

| Are you sure that the timimg was #1 TDC and not #6 TDC ? |

Mount Vernon, WA | I think what you meant to say was "Are you sure you were at #1 TDC compression?" Both #1 and #6 are at TDC at the same time. |

NW Ohio, near Findlay | Did you have the oil pump and gears out of the tractor, or did you just sleeves and pistons? If you had the oil pump out of the cam gears you could be off there. It will start if injectors pump is at 8 or at TDC, but if you off at the cam gear to oil pump, she will not start period. |

Danforth, Illinois | I was on #1 TDC copmression so I thought, I will have to double check this. And yes I did have the oil pump out of cam. I even put a new cam in and a new gear on oil pump. I think I put it in right, but again I will double check. So it sounds like the timing isnt so excat some where between 8,10,#1 TDC? Thanks |
