Don's looks pretty good to me. I used to mount our Trimble 132 on a metal plate between the roof bolts. You could T forward from between those bolts to the front of the cab. It would look similar to Ed Boysun's roof mount on his Cat. Built as a Y or a triangle might be stronger or not bounce. Save you from having to drill into the pane.
