Subject: RE: ez-guide 500,ez-steer&omnistar?

Madision County, IL
We are currently using an Ez-Guide 500 with Ez-Steer on a CaseIH 7140 for planting. The Ez-Steer system seems to do a good job of acquiring and holding the line. Our limitation at this time seems to be the correction signal (WAAS).

I believe we would be totally satisfied with Ez-Steer performance for planting if we were using Omnistar or RTK. We do have some concerns though. With omnistar we worry about the convergence time during startup or if we lose the signal. The trees we have in our area would require that we move our base station routinely if we went to RTK.

With WAAS we need to nudge the line routinely (every second or third pass on 1/2 mile rows), however, we believe it is easier than steering the tractor 100% of the time.

We are taking our time with future guidance purchases. It seems as though the technology continues to improve and the price keeps coming down.

Hope this help!!!!

Jay
