Subject: RE: Feels like the 1st time

Hillsboro, AL

Started in 1996.  We were asked to take part in a university study on yield monitors.  We ran one of the first Case-IH AFS machines with the factory installed yield monitor.  It had a C-Band GPS.  We had to use an Omnistar correction signal.  Seems like it was $1,500 a year.  The GPS was so bad that combine passes would literally cross each other on the map.  Have had a yield monitor on the combine every season since.

We got our first lightbar in 98-99 or somewhere in there.  It was a Mid-Tech Swath XL  and did a very good job.  We ran it on WAAS as soon as WAAS was in the open testing phase.  It did a good job.  We did our first VRT about the same time.  The prescription maps were loaded on a laptop computer and we used a DOS program to control the application.

Since that time we have used a Zynx system (still run it) for guidance and application control, the laptop was replaced with Ipaq's for variable control (using sitemate).  We have used AgLeader and Fieldstar yield monitors (AFS also).  We are currently running a Trimble RTK autopilot.

We have tested numerous pieces of hardware, too many to remember now......;-(
