Subject: Re: Pig nursery temp.

We start 10-12 lb pigs at 86*F. Hold the temp there for 1 wk and then start dropping the temp down 3* per week. I usually lower it on Mon, Wed and Fri. If the pigs start piling up I quit lowering it until they are laying out again.

I try to get them down around 70* or so by the time they have been in there 8 wks. Depends on the season whether 70* is realistic or not. I've found that during the summer it is better to keep the temp on the warm side so that the swing from daytime high to nighttime low is not so large.

The pigs that are in my nursery now, came in on Mar 15 and the current temp setting is 76*.
