Subject: Pig nursery temp.

Remsen, Iowa
In the past I have taken in 10-14 pound pigs in the nursery, set the temp at 84 degrees and started ramping down the temp. .5 degree per day, starting on day 2. Stopped ramping process at 68 degrees. The pigs seamed ok, but they would still pile up.

Last group (start date of March 21) I set the temp. at 88 degrees, let it stay there for 7 days the started ramping down .4 degrees per day. I've had the pigs in the nursery for 5 weeks (35 days). Now there is no pileing of pigs, but it seams really warm for the size of pigs in there the current temp setting is 79 degrees.

How do some of you guys set the nursery temps while pigs are in the nursery? My pigs have about 7 1/4 weeks in the nursery before heading out the door.
