| It was Rich's turn with lambs and we all helped him out, now it's my turn.
Chickens
My two boys, ages 10 and 12, decided that they would like to try raising a few chickens. I've been around them, we raised a few when I was a kid, but I've forgotten most of what I know.
Here's the set-up. We're thinking of raising a few broilers first, then adding layers if that works out. We've got a place for them, the old chicken coop that's in good shape inside, and a couple local sources of chicks. Thinking around 50?? Maybe 25 broilers plus some egg breed pullets??
I need suggestions on breeds, brooding, general raising, and anything else you can think of!
