Shut the engine off and pull the vacuum hose off of the fuel pressure regulator. Watch for gas coming out through the vacuum feed of the regulator. Sometimes it's come out quickly, sometimes you can hardly see it. That will cause the engine to flood out when it sits. Those engines are notorious for short lived regulators. Try that first........it'd be the cheapest fix.
