Subject: John Blue nitrolator modification question?

just a tish NE of central ND
Can the flow rate adjustment knob and regulator part (for lack of a better discription)that you turn to change the flow rate of the nh3 on a John Blue Nitrolater be safely removed and given a half turn? The reason would be to give easy access/visability of the numbers on the adjustor in the position it is mounted on the tool without having to climb on the machine to see them. There are 2 allen cap screws in the adjuster and the unit would come right out of the unit's body so changing it looks simple. I just dont want to mess up calibration or lose parts and cause leaks.
