Clamp load of a 1/2 gr 5 coarse thread bolt is 9075#. Clamp load of a 5/8 gr 5 coarse thread bolt is 14,500#. Half again more.
Get a 5/8 bit, sharpen it. Use the chain and bar.
Or if you want it real easy, find a tapered reamer. Truck frame reamer. A good quality one. I don't recommend doing it with one hand, cause if it catches, your arm or wrist will be broke, but you could. You will think you are drilling a white pine 2x4.
