Subject: How big of bolts for mounting weight bracket?

NE SD

Going to be mounting a weight bracket on the ends of the planter wings. Bracket will hold up to 800lbs but will probably start at around 600lbs maybe a little less. Bracket is made of 6"x6" square tubing and will have regular suitcase weights on it. Will two 1/2" bolts be big enough, or should I go up to 5/8"?

Reason I ask is because I will have to drill the holes horizontally through 3/4" plate. Have chain pull drill to help but still no replacement for drill press.
