Subject: dilemma on old JD receivers

Scott City, KS

Does anyone have trouble with their JD starfire receivers after 4 or 5 years?

We have several older starfire receivers that don't have the capability of outputting speed information.  We would like to trade these old receivers for the newer ITC receivers which output speed, b/c none of our new tractors have radars.  Our dealer will allow $1500 for our old starfire receivers while a new ITC costs around $4500.  Roughly, it would cost $3000 to trade.

If I can make the case that our older JD starfire receivers may be on the brink of shooting craps, it would be easier to justify the $$ in upgrading receivers right now.  Otherwise, we just need to spend a few hundred $$ on those little skytrac GPSs that output only speed.  I just have a hard time spending money on those Skytrac when the ITC makes them unneeded and obsolete!

TIA for the comments,
