Iowa

That would take some research to insure that nozzles, turbo, pistons, cam in fuel pump(timing), etc. are the same. Then again, it may be that you can go from 350 HP to either 400 or 425 HP, with just software/chip. Sometimes weird stuff happens when a person researches this type of "Rerate". you may find it easier to go to 425 hp than 400 hp OR it may be cheaper/easier to only go to 400HP.

Your regional CAT Dealer offers this free service, to research this. One needs to ask for their T.C. guy. (=Technical Communicator) You need to have your current serial number, when you call. [Like 4CK?????]

These older engines take time(1/2 hour to 3 hours) to research, there isn't a super easy method or chart on the changes from one HP to another HP. Now, there is a chart for the software chip, BUT that doesn't tell us if the nozzles, pistons, turbo, cam, etc. are the same or different.

Now, I know of a CAT dealer, that just told truckers to go to the junkyark, and buy the complete ECM(computer) of a higher hp engine and just bolt it on the side of their engine. The truckers didn't change anything as in turbos, nozzles, etc. The drivers just did the swap themselves, and away they drove. I heard they put on 425 HP ECMs onto 310 HP engines, but the turbos didn't last too long.
