E. CO | pjt I hope this will help you. I will just start by saying there is a lots of rope choices. First choice for a person trying to learn is get a soft lay not stiff rope. There are right handed ropes and left handed ropes. It does make a difference because of the twist. I looked around on the net and found a video that I have not seen myself but the guy that teaches it is well respected. You can check it out at www.elvaquero.com/videos . Check out the video on the elvaquero site titled "Theres roping to do, Ranch roping from the ground up. Most of the other videos feature learning to rope horned cattle and that is another thing in itself. As for ropes try to find a poly rope not grass just poly or a nylon rope that has a xs meaning extra soft lay. go to kingropes.com and see there website. or call at 800-443-8919.
