Traverse City MI | I am looking for info from people who do a lot of no-till winter wheat and oats. We are currently plowing our wheat ground and chisel plowing the oat ground. The main reason we are plowing the wheat ground is to help prevent disease in the wheat. How much more disease pressure is there with no-till if any? This will be going behind mainly wheat or oats but depending on the year possibly soybeans. I am leaning toward no-till to save time and money with small grains. We are usually trying to do two or three things when we should be planting wheat so this would be a time saver. Do you plan on a fungicide application with no-till or do you manage it like a conventional till wheat field. We need to update drills anyway and there are no drills in the area to rent so i don't want to dive in without any info. Any other tips or tricks? Thanks for all the help and info. | |
