E.Central MN | One of the arguments is that they believe the testing costs will be passed on to the cattle seller. How can that happen? If this one packer is buying cattle for Japan and refuses to pay the same as the packers that are not selling to Japan who do you think will get the cattle? If that packer doesn't receive enough extra from Japan to pay for the testing cost then it won't continue to do it. If it even breaks even compared to regular marketing channels, then the other cattle sellers still benefit by getting rid of those cattle to a market that they can't sell into. Its been long enough that something should be done to get our beef back into the Japanese market one way or another. | |
