Subject: Landlords with Tunnell Vision

Guys,
How do you handle your landlords that have tunnell vision and only see one crop. Whether or not it might be there most profitable crop or not. We have sevaral landlords that no matter the price yeild or conditions they want cotton, cotton, and only cotton on there ground. We have the ability to lower there cost and increase there margin with other crops. but all they see is the big number. Not the big picture. Cotton is going to break us if the new farm bill takes loan price to 48 cents per pound. We have just on our farm 1500 acres of ground that has never been in corn, and only in beans a few rare years. We just cont know how to get rid of hte tunnell vision. It is not just me in my area but a lot of the farmers are having the same troubles. Cotton is great when corn is 2 bucks and beans are 5 bucks. But when corn and beans are good we and they can profit a lot more then on loan price cotton.
