Subject: RE: March 30 USDA Crop Report - does it really matter?

Driftless SW Wisconsin

From what I see, ESPECIALLY this year, planting "INTENTIONS" will not determine the size of the corn crop, even if higher than expected acres.

Weather will be the key. Much or most of the new corn acres are in non traditional, maybe marginal corn areas that may or may not produce a good crop and will in any case not be at the "normal" corn belt yield level.

I would not get too cranked up about the 3/30 report. It's just a report. Harvest is what counts. The demand is there. Only as we get close to harvest will we know if the bushels are there and weather will be the key factor in bushels actually harvested. I don't think this will be the "report of the century". jmho.
